Commentary
And when He reminded - glorified and exalted is He - the wrongdoers with lies; He reminded their opposites, those who argue with them before their Lord; and they are the doers of good; with the truth; He said: "And the one who"; meaning: the group that "came with the truth"; meaning: the news that corresponds to reality; so he was truthful about Allah; and his definition indicates his perfection; it indicates that bringing it is his habit; he does not deliberately lie; "and he confirmed it"; meaning: with every truth he heard; and the proof was established upon him; and he is not rigidly an enemy of what he does not know; so he denies everything he has not heard; so who is more just than him?! For he was truthful about Allah; and he confirmed the truth when it came to him; and he continued upon it; and perhaps he singled out the pronoun indicating the scarcity of those described with this description of truth; and this group is the messengers and their followers; and for this reason, he confined piety to them; so he said - indicating the multitude to their greatness; even if they are few -: "Those are"; meaning: the high in rank; "they are"; meaning: specifically; "the righteous"; those who avoided wrongdoing; so there is no way for Hellfire upon them; nor do they have a dwelling in it; nor a resting place; rather, Paradise is their dwelling; is there not in Paradise a dwelling for the righteous? The verse is from the intertwining: he mentioned first the abode in Hellfire; indicating the omission of its opposite secondly; and the piety secondly; indicating the omission of its opposite first; and its secret is that he mentioned the most severe of what the criminal has from disbelief; and the evil of recompense; and he concealed what the Muslim has; from the limitation of piety to him; and the mention of his most beloved reward to him; and the indication of his deep-rootedness in goodness; and in the verses is another intertwining; which is that he mentioned lies and denial first; indicating the truth and affirmation secondly; and the piety and its reward; and what follows it secondly; indicating its opposite first; and its secret is that he mentioned in the aspect of the wrongdoer the most severe of what can be from lies; and denial; in its ugliest places; especially among the Arabs; and he concealed what can be in the aspect of the doer of good; from the uprightness of nature; and the goodness of reward.
