Commentary

And when that was the utmost in honor; it indicated an increase in his honor with a confirming state; indicating the severity of their obstinacy; it is called 'preparatory'; because the state in reality is what comes after it; by His saying: ﴿a Qur'an﴾; meaning: the state of that which is struck being comprehensive of all that is needed; and it is permissible that the accusative is for praise; ﴿Arabic﴾; following the rules of their language in its gathering; with its vastness; and clarity; and the potential of a single word from it to have many meanings; so how if it is joined with another and becomes speech?! And when a thing may be straight in action; while it is twisted in essence; He, exalted is He, said: ﴿free from any crookedness﴾; meaning: it is not attributed to anything of crookedness; nor is crookedness part of its nature; so it cannot be crooked at all in any of its structure; nor its meaning; whether in difference or otherwise; as in the verse of 'Al-Kahf' equally; and in the mention of 'crookedness'; which is specific to meanings; indicating that the description of it is truly; for it is more eloquent than 'not crooked'; because it carries the intention of its people; in metaphor.

And when the reminder is by reminder - for it is more effective for admonition - it carries; and it is necessary; for the rational person upon the fear that causes salvation; He said: ﴿perhaps they will be conscious﴾; meaning: that their state after the reminder arising from the reminder; is the state of one who is hoped for to place between himself and the anger of Allah a protection.
