Commentary
And when their denial guided them to his specificity in the mention - by negating their necessary doubt from it, proving that they are knowledgeable that he is a Messenger; and that he is the most deserving of the message - to the extent that the estimation is: Is there in them anyone other than him who is worthy of receiving this mention; until Allah sends it down upon him; and leaves this bringer of good tidings and warner ﷺ; he equated it with his saying: ﴿Or do they have﴾; meaning: specifically; without others; ﴿the treasures of mercy﴾; and when the sending down of revelation is a favor to the one it is sent down upon; he shifted from specifying the pronoun to the attribute of favor; which is beneficial for nurturing; so he said - addressing him ﷺ because it is more significant for his status; and more magnificent for his worth and place -: ﴿Your Lord﴾; meaning: the one who bestows favor upon you by sending it down; to specify with it whom He wills; and to withhold from whom He wills: ﴿Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord﴾ [Az-Zukhruf: 32] And when it is not suitable for lordship except for the one who predominates over all else; who bestows upon whom He wills what He wills; he said: ﴿the Mighty, the Bestower﴾; meaning: the one who prevails over everything; and nothing prevails over him; and He bestows from the aspect of favor what He wills upon whom He wants; and He has the attribute of bestowal; (p-338) the repeated effects continuously; so there is no giver of what He has withheld; nor is there a withholding of what He has given.
