Commentary
And when he was aware that the All-Powerful did not create Adam - blessings and peace be upon him - and honored him with what He honored him, in order to cause all of his descendants to be miserable, he said: "Except Your servants"; thus he attributed them to Him - glorified and exalted is He - as a reminder that others have detached themselves from the honor of His servitude, in relation to those who obeyed Him. And since it was possible for the exception to be from non-humans, he restricted it with his saying: "Among them are the sincere"; meaning: those whom Allah (glorified and exalted is He) has made sincere for His obedience, so they made their intention sincere for it. And it is known from the exception that they are few, and that the misguided are the majority.
