Commentary
And when expulsion may occur in a short time, it is clarified that it is permanent. This is indicated by His saying - affirming, pointing to the knowledge of what is in Himself of increased arrogance -: "And indeed upon you"; meaning: specifically. And since the context here is to speak in a manner that does not manifest greatness, He did not use the letter of speech, unlike in "Al-Hijr"; for He said: "My curse"; meaning: my distancing, along with expulsion, disgrace, humiliation, and subjugation over you always; overpowering you, you cannot escape from it in any way. As for others, they are not necessarily subject to the curse; rather, they will be between hope and fear. The creatures have no knowledge that it is cut off by a curse as long as he is alive, except for one who has been informed of it by a prophet among the prophets. Then He limited this curse by saying: "Until the Day of Judgment"; meaning: when that day comes, He will begin to reward every doer for what he has done; and there will be no time left for a sinner to make up for what he has missed. At that time, it will be known who are the deserving of the curse, and knowledge of that will not remain specific to Iblis; rather, knowledge will encompass all the people of the curse. Thus, the limit of the knowledge of specificity regarding the curse is not for the curse itself.
