Commentary
And when it indicated that he is a warner; and removed what they might have brought against him; he followed it with the context of the dispute of the highest assembly; or instead of "when"; the first; he said: ﴿When﴾; meaning: at the time; ﴿he said﴾; and it indicated that all of this is kindness towards him; and a favor upon him; by mentioning the description that indicates that - and he turned the speech from talking to addressing; because it is more suitable for praise; and more indicative that it is the words of Allah; as in His saying: ﴿Say, who is an enemy to Gabriel?﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 97] - an indication that suggests that it is a context for "revealed"; or for "warner"; he said: ﴿Your Lord﴾; meaning: the one who is kind to you by making you the best of creation; and the most honored of them to Him; for He has given you Al-Kawthar; which is everything you might need; ﴿for the angels﴾; and they are the highest assembly; and Iblis is among them; because he was then with them; and in their count; and when they were knowledgeable of what the evidence from Allah indicated to them; as previously mentioned in the Surah of "Al-Baqarah"; that humanity incurs corruption from him; they were distancing themselves from the creation of - glorified and exalted is He - one in whom there is corruption; because He is the Wise; the one who has no wise besides Him; He confirmed to them - glorified and exalted is He - His saying: ﴿Indeed, I am creating a human﴾; meaning: a person who is apparent in form; with no covering of feathers; nor hair; nor anything else; to make the confirmation an indication of what has passed from their review of Allah (the Exalted); which he referred to by the dispute; and clarified its origin by His saying - commenting with "creator"; or by the description of a human -: ﴿from clay﴾; I make him My vicegerent on earth; and even if there is corruption in that; because I intend to show My forbearance; and My mercy; and My forgiveness; and other attributes of Mine that are not suitable for wisdom to be shown except with sins: "If you did not sin and seek forgiveness, Allah would bring forth a people who sin and seek forgiveness, and He would forgive them."; Al-Qushayri said: And His informing the angels of that indicates the magnification of the status of Adam - peace be upon him - because He created what He created from the two worlds; and paradise; and hell; and the Throne; and the Chair; and the angels; and He did not speak of the description of anything from them as He spoke of the description of Adam - peace be upon him -; and his children; and He did not command prostration to anything other than him.
