Commentary
And when the souls are inclined towards desires; leaning towards destruction; they are in need of more intimidation; and severe terror; Allah, the Most High, said - warning those who abandon following these leaders in matters of worship; confirming what has been previously stated regarding the warning of the sinners; and the intimidation of the tyrants -: "This"; meaning: the great matter that is worthy of being made the focus of attention; and that for each of the two groups there is what has been mentioned; even if the disbelievers deny it; and omitting the news; after affirming it in the first; is more terrifying; so that the misconception in it goes away from every opinion; "And indeed for the tyrants"; meaning: those who did not endure placing themselves in their rightful places; by being patient with what they were commanded; for they raised themselves above their due measure; and exceeded the limit; and they were arrogant in disbelief; and they were excessive in sins and oppression; and they were tyrannical; and they were proud; so they were the most foolish of people; "Surely a wretched return"; meaning: a destination; and a place of return; (p-405) and He replaced it; or clarified it with His saying:
