Commentary
And when this statement indicated this eloquent praise, he added what accompanies sincerity, saying - affirming what has preceded in warning that they are among those whose praise is envied; and in response to those who might think otherwise, due to the many trials they face in this world: "And indeed, they are with Us"; meaning: in accordance with the greatness we possess; and the knowledge; "certainly among the chosen ones"; the extreme in their selection; an exaggeration as if it were through treatment; "the good ones"; each one of them is greatly good in goodness; and our affliction of them with trials is evidence of that; not evidence of the opposite; as is thought by one whose heart has been blinded; and the verse from the intertwining: the mention of "We have purified them"; first; is evidence of "We have chosen them"; secondly; and "the chosen ones"; is evidence of "the purified ones"; first; and the secret of that is that sincerity necessitates selection; especially if it is attributed to Him; unlike the opposite; as evidenced by: "Then We gave the Book as inheritance to those We have chosen from Our servants, and among them is one who wrongs himself" [Fatir: 32].
