Commentary

And when the decree was: "So he acted; he bathed; and his outward appearance was cured; and his inward self was pleased"; he added to it his saying - directing the speech to the manifestation of majesty; as a reminder of the greatness of the action -: ﴿And We granted﴾; meaning: by what we have of greatness; ﴿to him his family﴾; meaning: those upon whom the devil was made to prevail; by bringing them to life; and he gathered consideration by meaning; for it is more magnificent; and closer to understanding the intended meaning; so he said: ﴿and like them﴾; and he informed of the gathering of all at one time; so he said: ﴿with them﴾; we renewed them for him; and for those who hear that to know that there is no significance to anything of this world; and that it and all that is in it is a fleeting occurrence; there is no stability to it at all; except what is ours; for it is of the everlasting good deeds; so let no one be changed by anything of it; nor let anyone be occupied by it at all; and let whoever believes in the power over resurrection know this; by merely believing in it; and whoever hesitates in it should ask the people of the Book; so he knows that by their belief in it; then he explained - glorified and exalted is He - His action by saying: ﴿as a mercy﴾; and when it was in the context of urging patience; He magnified the matter by His saying: ﴿from Us﴾; for it is greater than the expression in Surah "The Prophets"; by "with Us"; so that this would be more urging to adhere to patience; and when you look at the conclusion of the two verses, you will know the difference between the two expressions; and it will become clear to you that the station of patience is unmatched by anything; for the path to it - glorified is He - does not lack anything from patience; and overcoming the self; and restraint; for it is by consensus contrary to what the natures call to; ﴿and a reminder﴾; meaning: as an honor; and a great reminder; ﴿for those of understanding﴾; meaning: those with clear minds; we made that for His mercy; and for the reminder of others among those described throughout time; so that every afflicted one may take example from it; and hope for what he hoped for; for indeed, the mercy of Allah is vast; and He is near to the broken-hearted; for between Him and the response is nothing but good turning; so whoever persists in turning to Him, He will suffice him from others:

For everything, when you part from it, there is a compensation ∗∗∗ And there is no compensation for Allah if you part from Him.
