Commentary
And when this indicates kingship; in that it is the control over great matters forcibly; it was as if it were said that all of this is a confirmation of his prophethood; and a glorification of his kingship; (p-355) He said: ﴿And We strengthened﴾; meaning: with what we have of greatness; ﴿his kingship﴾; without that; of what the king needs; Ibn Abbas - may Allah be pleased with him - said: He was the strongest of the kings of the earth in authority.
And when the greatest affirmation of kingship is knowledge; He said: ﴿And We gave him﴾; meaning: with our greatness; ﴿wisdom﴾; meaning: the prophethood from which knowledge of things arises as they are; and placing things in their most appropriate locations; for wisdom is acting upon knowledge; and when its completeness is by cutting off disputes; He said: ﴿and the decisive speech﴾; meaning: and the knowledge of the distinction between what is ambiguous in the speech of those addressing him; without great deliberation in that; rather he distinguishes immediately between the similar things; such that he does not leave any ambiguity that could lead to disputes with others; who are obstinate; and We clothed him with honor; and awe; and dignity that prevents anyone from daring to be obstinate in any of his matters after that clarification; which distinguished between the similar things; and differentiated between the obscure problems; and when he spoke, he focused on the details; so he clarifies from his narration of the speech its meanings; and places the thing in its most precise foundations.
