Commentary
And when He removed from them the ability to act regarding the treasures, He followed it with the negation of ownership of what they witnessed from it; and it is a very small part. So He said: ﴿Or do they have﴾; meaning: specifically; ﴿the ownership of the heavens and the earth﴾; and when the judgment on that does not necessitate the judgment on the void, He said: ﴿and what is between them﴾; meaning: so that their word in this universe is the prevailing one; and they speak about divine matters; and they attribute whatever they wish of noble matters to whomever they wish. Then He clarified their incapacity; and reprimanded them; and admonished them for what resulted from that by His saying: ﴿So let them ascend﴾; meaning: let them attempt to ascend if they have that; ﴿through means﴾; meaning: the paths leading to the heavens; so that they may be established upon the throne; which is a sign of ownership; so they may contemplate the world; and specify whom they wish with the message; so that it may be known that they have that; and that it is not permissible for anyone to claim exclusivity in anything without them.
