And when it was known that they spoke to him about that; their words were lengthy; and the longing of the soul for his response was greater; he resumed the report about him in his saying: ﴿He said﴾; not fearing them; nor caring about them; for he saw them as perishing; denying them; ﴿Do you worship﴾; and he urged them in the present tense to repent; and to return to Allah; and he expressed with a tool that does not comprehend; (p-258) as is the truth; he said: ﴿What you carve﴾; meaning: if worship is due to anyone other than Allah, then they are more deserving to be worshipped by you; for you have made them; and they did not make you.
