Commentary
And when it became the case that they, upon knowing of its breaking, suspected it; due to what they used to hear from him about its blame; and his swearing that he would certainly plot against it; they came to him. He informed about that by saying - causing it -: "So they came"; and it indicated that he was from a distant place by his saying: "to him they hasten"; meaning: they hurry. And the reading of Hamzah - in the passive form - is more indicative of the intensity of the hastening; for it indicates that they came in a state as if a bearer was carrying them in it towards hastening; and a conqueror was overpowering them to do so; due to the intensity of what was in their souls from longing.
