Commentary
'He went' in secrecy with agility, lightness, energy, and determination. Al-Baydawi said: Its origin is the inclination by means of a trick. 'To their idols' means to their statues which they claimed were gods. They had placed food by them, addressing them as if they were rational beings, to include them in the category of those who can understand. 'He said' while denying them, mockingly apparent, and truly reproaching his people. 'Will you not eat?'
