Commentary
And when the purpose of the surah is glorification; which is distancing from deficiencies; therefore, the most appropriate of things is to begin with an oath by the angels; who are the purest of creation; and the highest of creation is one who has stripped himself of desires; by what Allah grants him of struggles; and confrontations; and treatments; until he joins them; so it is permissible with their virtue to attain the heights of jihad; thus, the most deserving of the prophets to be mentioned is the one who is most dedicated to stripping himself of distractions; in his journey to his Lord; and turning away from everything else; and the father (p-245) is the second most deserving of them in this; because he dedicated himself in jihad by calling to Allah for a thousand years; then he stripped himself of everything on the surface of the water between the earth; and the sky; and he said (the Most High) - confirming what has preceded from that he called for the affirmation that his prolonged stay among his people was a reason for them not to agree with him, and to lean towards him, and to follow him; and because the actions of the Arabs in denying; despite the multitude of miracles; and the continuous admonitions; are the actions of one who is a denier of the occurrence of assistance for the messengers; and punishment for the deniers; in addition to what is determined by: "The messengers endured from the hardships what cannot be contained by papers; and they struggled against them with their souls; and supplication to Allah (the Most High) in their matters" -: ﴿And indeed, We called﴾; for what we have of greatness; ﴿Noah﴾; with his saying: "My Lord, indeed I am overcome, so help me"; and similar to it; from what Allah has informed about him after great matters he faced from them of distress; and hardships and calamities; to uncover what had exhausted him from their matters.
And when this statement sufficed for explaining the story and prolonging it; and it had resulted from his supplication that he was answered; he said - confirming with the nominal sentence; and indicating the oath; and the comprehensive tool for all praise; and the form of greatness; to the extent that the horror of their punishment; and the magnitude of their calamity reached that with its fame it is hardly believed; so he needs great effort; and intense care; thus the response was the response of one who does that; even if (p-246) the actions in relation to him - glorified is He - are on the same level; not needing anything other than absolute will -: ﴿So how excellent are the responders﴾; meaning: we were; for what we have of greatness; to Him; and to others who were excellent responders to us; this is our attribute; there is no change to it.
