Commentary
And when it has become customary that the indulgent eater enjoys after his meal with that which cools the heat of his liver; he said - indicating the extreme repulsiveness of their indulgence; and their prolonged suffering from their thirst; with a tool of relaxation; and a means of emphasis regarding the great denial they have in that -: "Then indeed, for them upon it"; meaning: upon their eating from it; "is a mixture"; meaning: a mixture of great burning; "of boiling water"; meaning: hot water; as if it is gathered from waters of various extracts; from pus; and filth; and the like of them - we ask Allah for well-being.
