Commentary
And when He informed - glorified and exalted is He - of their sharing; He began to inform about what terrifies the matter of their punishment; and He indicates its generality in both abodes for everyone who participated with them in wrongdoing; so He said - affirming; to dispel the thought of those who deny the Resurrection; and the thought of those who see the respite for the wrongdoer in this world as a blessing; and deny that it is a punishment; or act in prolonging their wrongdoing like the denier -: "Indeed, we"; meaning: by what we have of greatness that nothing escapes it; "likewise"; meaning: like this great act; "we do"; with them; thus was the original; but He conditioned it with the description; generalizing; and providing a reason; so He said: "with the wrongdoers"; meaning: everyone who cuts off what Allah has commanded to be connected; in this world; and the Hereafter; we give them respite; then we take them with a severe taking; by which the participants in injustice become enemies who dispute with one another; and some of them will turn against others; then that will not benefit them; rather we will share among them in the punishment;
