Commentary

And when they had completed the lamentation of regret, and the sorrow, and the complaint, they returned to completing that speech. They said: ﴿So We led you astray﴾; meaning: We misled you; and We caused you to fall into error, because of the rights of that saying upon us. Then they justified that by their saying - also affirming it, to refute what the followers claimed, that the only reason for their misguidance was the leaders -: ﴿Indeed, we﴾; meaning: all of us; ﴿were misguided﴾; meaning: in our nature is misguidance; which is deviating from the best path to destruction.
