Then he caused it to be due to the promise of the certainty of its being a sign of the utmost humiliation. He said: "So indeed"; meaning: that will be because you are being warned; so you will stand up. And the warning by which they stand up is indeed "a warning"; meaning: a shout. He emphasized what he understands from the singularity; due to their denial; explicitly stating that; and belittling the matter of resurrection in comparison to His power - glorified and exalted is He - so he said: "one"; and it is the second; which was the death of all living beings at one time like it. And the origin of the warning is to stop; and it is for urging; or preventing; and that will only be for the one who is capable of it and has done what angers the one warning; for that reason, he called the shout a warning.

And when this speech indicates anger; he confirmed it by diverting the speech from addressing them; placing them in a position of distance; and generalizing for others; so he said - expressing with the causative conjunction and the tool of surprise -: "So when they are"; meaning: all the dead; with their inner selves; and their outward appearances; the old among them; and the recent; alive; "they will be looking"; meaning: immediately; without any delay at all; and there is no distinction between one who has become entirely dust; and one who has not changed at all; and one who is between that; and perhaps he specified the looking with mention; because it only occurs with the completeness of life; and for that reason, he - blessings and peace be upon him - said: "When the soul is taken, the sight follows it." As for hearing, it may be for one who is not alive; because he - blessings and peace be upon him - said regarding the disbelievers among the slain of Badr: "You are not more hearing of what I say than them." And I have witnessed in the land of Al-'Urqub; adjacent to Banyas; from the lands of Ash-Sham; a thorn tree; said to be: "Al-Ghubayra"; whenever it was said near it: "Bring me the sickle to cut this tree"; its leaves immediately withered; and Allah knows what caused that.
