Commentary
And when the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, was the Prophet of mercy; he does not seek to eradicate his people with punishment; he said - indicating this by repeating the matter; confirming the consolation; and the promise of support; along with what is in it of an increase in meaning over the first; adding to "Turn away"; the first -: ﴿And turn away﴾; meaning: impose upon yourself patience with them on that day when the second punishment descends upon them; and to turn away from them ﴿for a time﴾; and so he did, blessings and peace be upon him, for he settled in their territory on the day of the conquest in the morning; and they were unable to resist.
