And when this reminder - which came to them; while being the greatest reminder; came confirming the books of the earlier ones; and the messenger who brought it is the greatest of the messengers; for this reason, it is exactly what they had agreed upon; with an increase in honor - a reason for their disbelief; He said: ﴿So they disbelieved in it﴾; meaning: it resulted from what they had pledged that they disbelieved in that reminder; with its increase in honor over what they sought by way of the miraculous; and others; thus, it resulted in their threat from those who broke their promise; and they violated their covenant with emphasis; so He said: ﴿So they will soon know﴾; meaning: with a warning that is not of the same kind as their words; rather, it is something that there is no doubt about in any way.
