Commentary

And when he clarified their misguidance; and his guidance ﷺ; and the guidance of those who follow him - by what he indicated regarding the attribute of lordship; which he attributed to him in his saying: 'To your Lord' -; he informed that they have added to the defect of misguidance in itself; the defect of breaking the promise; and the violation of what they confirmed of the covenant; so he said - confirming; indicating that it is hardly believable that a rational person would affirm for himself a matter; then break it; in response to one who says: Did they glorify him as the sincere ones glorified him? -: 'And if' ; meaning: they did that from misguidance with the doubts that were exposed; by what we uncovered from their veils; and they did not glorify as the sincere ones glorified; while they were; before this; 'saying'; meaning: a saying they keep renewing with what is in it of affirmation;
