Commentary
And it indicated their lying also by his denial; reproaching them in the style of address; increasing in anger; in his saying: ﴿He chose﴾; with the interrogative hamzah of denial; and whoever omits it, it is estimated with him; intended; meaning: Inform me: Did this master whom you acknowledge as complete in his knowledge; and encompassing in his power; and elevated in his nobility; choose what you disdain.
And when the expression of 'daughter' was more disliked to them than the expression of 'female'; and the expression of 'son' was more beloved to them than the expression of 'males'; and it specified the intended meaning; because the male shares in meanings; he said: ﴿the daughters﴾; those whom you disdain to associate with you; and you feel shy of their relation to you; until indeed some of you would reach in distancing them to burying them alive; ﴿over the sons﴾; so at that time, his view of himself was less than the view of the least of you; let alone the more noble among you; and for that reason, his saying was greatly beautiful; and it reached the peak of eloquence.
