And when he mentioned their turning away from what is heard, he followed it with their turning away from what is seen. He said: ﴿And when they see a sign﴾; meaning: a sign of the truthfulness of the Messenger, blessings and peace be upon him, and others. ﴿They seek to ridicule﴾; meaning: they seek to mock it, by having some of them call others to do so, due to the intensity of their mockery.
