And when the main purpose was, as has passed, the state of purity; and the informing of the victory of the oppressed among the believers; He said: ﴿And We saved them both and their people﴾; meaning: the Children of Israel; and they had experienced ages in a humiliation that is incomparable to the humiliation of the believers among the companions of Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, in the beginning of their affair; ﴿from the great distress﴾; meaning: the servitude; and what follows it from the great calamities; and that was by the destruction of the Egyptians; who persisted in misguidance; and they were many times the number of the Children of Israel; until We destroyed them; and no one among them escaped; so it was established for the Children of Israel at that time the state of purity; and the humiliation of tyranny and rebellion was removed from them.
