Commentary
And when the place of expectation was to praise him, he said: "Indeed, you have confirmed it"; meaning: a great confirmation; "the vision"; that you will sacrifice him; for you have dealt with that; and you have exerted your utmost in it; and you have done what you saw in the dream; so it was not sacrificed; because you did not see that you sacrificed him; so refrain from dealing with the sacrifice beyond this; and when the decree was: "So We rewarded you for that with a goodness greater than what you love; and We made you an Imam for the righteous; and We granted you a tongue of truth among the later generations; and We made your family the chosen ones; and We filled the two horizons with them"; he explained it by saying that this is His constant tradition; both ancient and modern; so he said what follows. And when he, blessings and peace be upon him, was determined to sacrifice; that determination was of a rank that the stars and the sky cannot reach; and the resolve that diminishes before the high status of it; and the great magnificence of it is in the heights of the heavens; it does not cease from its turbulence; nor cool from its boiling; and its fervor; except by a severe command; and a decisive and strong saying; he said - affirming; indicating that his determination had reached this limit; and that obeying the command is easier than refraining after engaging in the prohibition -: "Indeed, so We reward the doers of good."
