And when he was certain of him, he hastened to what he was commanded. This indicates the closeness of the time of this saying by the letter 'fa' (so). He said: ﴿So when they both submitted﴾; meaning: they both acted with utmost sincerity at the moment of execution, with all their powers, in the matter. There was nothing from either of them of refusal, nor reluctance, nor any internal conflict regarding any of that. (p-266) ﴿And he laid him down﴾; meaning: Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - laid him down quickly and well, with utmost satisfaction from him, and compliance from Ismail - blessings and peace be upon him. This indicates the speed by the 'lam' (of) which is placed in the position of 'ala' (on). He said: ﴿To the forehead﴾; meaning: one side of the forehead, which is the position of laying down that which is to be slaughtered. This is from their saying: 'Talaha' - if he laid him down; and by this, the hill (tal) is named from the earth. And 'I laid down so-and-so in your hand' means: I pushed him down peacefully. And the forehead - it is said in the dictionaries: above the temple; and there are two foreheads, one on the right side of the forehead and one on the left.
