Commentary

And when He - glorified and exalted is He - established His power with this proof over what He first threatened; from the transformation from one state to another; thus His power over resurrection was confirmed; and He concluded with the encompassing knowledge that is necessary for the completeness of power; He followed that with a clearer proof than the first; and He said - adding to 'Did they not see' -: ﴿Did he not see﴾; meaning: to know; a knowledge that is in its appearance like that which is perceived by sight.

And when this example that this disbeliever mentioned is not accepted even by a donkey; if it were to speak; it indicated his foolishness by expressing 'the human being'; which is - even though he is the most discerning of creatures for what has been instilled in him - glorified and exalted is He - from intellect - that humanity has overcome him by itself; until he becomes an example; thus he said: ﴿The human being﴾; meaning: his kind; from them; and from others; and even if the one in which it was revealed is one; ﴿Indeed, We created him﴾; by what we have of greatness; ﴿From a drop﴾; meaning: a small; insignificant thing; of water with no benefit; after Our creation of his father from dust; and his mother from flesh; and bones; ﴿So when he is﴾; meaning: thus it resulted from Our creation for him from that a surprise for a state that is the farthest from the state of the drop; and that he is ﴿A disputant﴾; meaning: one who is extreme in disputation; ﴿Clear﴾; meaning: in the utmost clarity about what he wants; until he indeed argues with the One who granted him intellect and ability regarding His ability; the teacher Abu al-Qasim al-Qushayri recited in this:
