And when these matters are obligatory; it is possible for some of the stubborn ones to argue against them out of obstinacy; and the fact that he ﷺ is the Prophet of Mercy; prevents the suddenness of punishment with the torment of eradication by it; He indicated it by what they observe of His manifest power; and the strange wisdom in His creation; so he said - indicating with the conjunction to something not clearly connected; that the estimation is: "Indeed, We created them as drops; then as a clinging substance; then as a morsel; then We brought them forth, knowing nothing; and they are not capable of anything; then We raised them through the stages of age; elevating them in the ascents of apparent and hidden powers; until they reached the limit of the strongest - which is the completion of human powers -; so We halted their apparent and hidden powers; and We did not follow the custom of causing in them at that time a strength that did not exist during the days of youth" -: ﴿And whoever We grant long life﴾; meaning: We extend his life; a significant extension of it after that; ﴿We reverse him﴾; and the reading of 'Asim and Hamzah; with the first being pronounced with a dammah; and the second with a fatha; and the kaf being pronounced with a shaddah; indicates the difference among people in reversal; and he did not say "in his creation"; so that it would not be thought that what is meant is that the one who is granted long life has a creation that He initiated and created; ﴿in creation﴾; meaning: in what We created regarding the estimation of his body; and soul; meaning: We return him to his former state; descending in the stages in which We elevated him; until his sensory powers diminish; and he becomes like a child; so he cannot do anything; and in terms of knowledge; he knows nothing; and whoever is capable of such a transformation from one state to another that did not exist; expelling and reversing; is capable of what has passed of transformation; without difference; except that for their familiarity with it, they made it easy for them; and for the rarity of the first, they made it distant for them; and for this reason, he caused from the speech his saying - in the previous style in the reading of the group; and directing to the address among the Medinians; and Ya'qub; because it is closer to entreaty; and informing that the admonition is general for every righteous one suitable for the address -: ﴿Do they not understand﴾; and some of the knowledgeable said: He specified with creation to avoid the matter; for indeed, the one who obeys increases in age, increases in obedience to his Lord; and with it, knowledge; meaning that the reversal in the body is something that must happen; but in knowledge, sometimes; and sometimes not.
