﴿Burn in it﴾; meaning: measure its heat; and its blazing; and its raging; (p-156) and the horror of the matter of that day; by recalling it; as it has passed; so he said: ﴿Today﴾; so that you may be preoccupied; just as the companions of Paradise were; and there is a great difference between the two preoccupations; ﴿By what﴾; meaning: because of what.

And when they had hardened themselves against tyranny; the hardening of one who is naturally inclined to it; he clarified that by mentioning the universe; so he said: ﴿You used to disbelieve﴾; meaning: you concealed what is very apparent to your minds of My signs; renewing that; and continuing upon it.
