Commentary
And when he presented the meanings that necessitate eating the fruits, he brought them forth. He said: ﴿For them﴾; meaning: specifically for them; ﴿in it are fruits﴾; meaning: they will never cease; there is no hindrance for them from consuming it; and this will not be stopped by anything other than their desire. And since the term 'fruits' can refer to what brings pleasure, he clarified that this is what is meant. He said - expressing it by conjunction, so that the fruits are mentioned twice; specifically and generally -: ﴿And for them﴾; and since the context is for the people of Paradise; who the call indicates that they are in it always; even if they were in this world; he stripped the words of the context to make clear the response to their supplications in this world; and that they would attain all their desires in both abodes. He said: ﴿What they call for﴾; meaning: what they seek; a sincere request; either to bring forth what may arise in the soul without a firm intention towards it; if what is meant is in Paradise without the words of Allah; such as food and drink and similar things; or to show their concern; if what is meant is that it is His words - glorified and exalted is He -; and this is because of what they used to refrain from in this world from desires; turning away from what perishes; and aspiring to what is with Us of the everlasting good deeds.
