Commentary
And when He had saved - glorified is He - our forefathers when He carried him in that water; which there has never been anything like it; and it was perhaps thought that the salvation was for a secret of the secrets other than His will; He made the matter of what He created like it at times; and at times for it to be known that this is by His doing; so that His blessing may be thanked, first and last; and He said: ﴾And if We will﴿; meaning: for the sake of what we have of the comprehensive power; ﴾We will drown them﴿; meaning: although this water which they ride does not compare to that which we carried their forefathers in; ﴾So there will be no one to help them﴿; meaning: a rescuer to save them from what We intend for them of drowning; ﴾Nor will they﴿; meaning: by themselves; without a helper; ﴾be saved﴿; meaning: there will be for them a salvation; meaning: a rescue by themselves; or otherwise.
