Commentary
And when he completed the example that is beneficial for the completeness of His power over the tremendous actions; with good tidings; and a warning; so that indeed, whoever has sealed upon his heart, he does not believe; even if he is close in lineage; and in the home; and whoever has made fear reside in his heart believes; even if his lineage and place are distant; so the definition of the intended section was completed; which is the one who follows the reminder; and he concluded with resurrection; and they were denying it; and he had placed it at the beginning of the speech; as part of the good tidings of the one who follows the reminder; he indicated it by saying - beginning with an indefinite noun; its tanween indicates its greatness -: "And a sign"; meaning: a great sign; "for them"; regarding our power over resurrection; and our bringing it into existence; "the earth"; meaning: this type of which they are from; then he described it with what confirmed the aspect of similarity; so he said: "the dead body"; which has no soul; because there is no vegetation in it; more general than if there were vegetation in it; and it perished; so it crumbled; and became dust; or there was nothing in it at all; then he began to clarify its being a sign; by saying: "We have brought it to life"; meaning: by creating vegetation in it; or by restoring it; due to the rain; as it was after its decline.
And when the extraction of sustenance was another blessing; he said: "And We brought forth from it grain"; and He alerted (the Most High) to the greatness of His power in it; and to the general benefit of it; by the manifestation of greatness; and He increased in alerting by reminding that grain is the most significant of what sustains the living; so he said - prefacing for the neighbor; indicating the counting of others in relation to it as non-existent; due to its great impact; and its general benefit; as evidence that whenever it is scarce, drought comes; and harm occurs -: "So from it"; meaning: because of this extraction; "they eat"; meaning: it is truly grain; they know that with the knowledge of certainty; and the eye of certainty; and the truth of certainty; they cannot claim that it is an illusion or magic in any way; and in this verse and similar ones, there is a great encouragement to contemplate the Qur'an; and to extract from it the meanings that indicate the majesty of Allah; and His perfection; and here the teacher Abu al-Qasim al-Qushayri - may Allah have mercy on him - recited in his tafsir; regarding the blame of the one who neglects that; he said:
O you who have taken the lead in the seat of imamate in matters of jurisprudence by dictation and teaching
You have neglected the arguments of monotheism ruling them; you have built a branch while you have not laid a foundation.
