Commentary

And when it was established in the Surah of 'the Angels' that He - glorified and exalted is He - is the Most High King, due to what has been established for Him of complete power and encompassing knowledge; and one of the greatest fruits of kingship is sending messengers to the subjects, by the commands of the King; and turning them away from what they are upon, which their souls have called them to, and their desires have led them to; to what He opens for them of generosity, and enlightens them with of wisdom; and the message was one of the three fundamentals that transfer a person from disbelief to faith; and it was the one looked at first, because it is the cause of the other two fundamentals; and they had rejected His message out of aversion and arrogance; He said - presenting it as the cause before its effect, in a manner of strong emphasis, with the pronoun of address that does not allow for ambiguity -: 'Indeed, you are among the messengers'; meaning: those whose minds have judged against the calls of their souls; so they became - by what Allah has granted them of luminous strength - like the angels; who were mentioned in the previous Surah as being His messengers; and among them, by what they have embodied of His commands and prohibitions, and all that He approves.
