Commentary
And when I intended to declare the occurrence of kindness towards him, the source was resolved to his saying: ﴿Because He has forgiven me﴾; meaning: He has placed a veil over what I had been committing throughout my life of disbelief in Him; with faith in a short period; ﴿My Lord﴾; meaning: the One who has done good to me in the Hereafter; after His kindness in this world; ﴿And He made me﴾; and when companionship is the greatest success, he refrained from saying 'honored' to say: ﴿Among the honored﴾; meaning: those whom He has granted the highest ranks; by devoting all their lives to worship; thus he advised his people, alive and dead; wishing for their knowledge of His (glorified and exalted is He) honoring of him; so that they may act like his actions; and attain what he attained; and in his story is an encouragement to hasten to part from the wicked; and to follow the righteous; and to be patient with the people of ignorance; and to restrain anger; and to be gentle in saving the oppressor from his oppression; and that no one enters Paradise except by the mercy of Allah; even if he is a doer of good; and this is as occurred for the Ansar - may Allah be pleased with them - in hastening to faith; despite the distance of the land; and the lineage; and in the words of those who were martyred among them at 'Bir Ma'una' - as narrated by al-Bukhari in the battles; from Anas - may Allah be pleased with him -: 'Inform our people that we have met our Lord and He is pleased with us; and has made us pleased'; and in the battle of 'Uhud'; as in the biography; and others; when they found the goodness of their food and drink; and the beauty of their resting place: 'Oh, I wish our brothers knew what Allah has done for us; so that they would not disdain from jihad; nor withdraw from war'; then He - blessed and exalted is He - said: (So I will convey to them about you); then Allah (glorified and exalted is He) revealed to His Messenger ﷺ: ﴿And do not think that those who were killed in the way of Allah are dead﴾ [Al-Imran: 169]; the verses; in Surah 'Al-Imran'; and in the analogy of this story is an indication that among the Quraysh are those who died in disbelief; and what was decreed for them of the term was not diminished; so He - glorified is He - supports this religion with others; to manifest His power; and to fulfill the terms of those; then He turns to the hearts of others; so that His wisdom becomes evident; and to other springs of meanings; and stable foundations.
