Commentary
And when he established the evidence; and there remained no excuse for anyone who had stayed away from it; he declared what he had hinted at regarding his faith; and he said - expressing his joy with emphasis; and cutting off what they thought of him, that he would not dare to confront them all by opposing them in the essence of the religion -: "Indeed, I have believed"; meaning: I have established the affirmation; which there is no affirmation in reality other than it; with the messengers; believing in them so that I do not introduce to them any kind of confusion from denial or otherwise; and when he guided them by hinting at the generality of the Merciful; he declared to them what they are required to thank Him for from the specifics of Lordship; and he said: "By your Lord"; meaning: by the One for whom there is no goodness with you except from Him; you have forgotten what He has with you of Lordship; and of Mercifulness; and of creation; and he increased in his declaration to them; showing his indifference to them; by saying: "So listen to me"; meaning: listening if you wish to make it known; and if you wish to keep it hidden - as indicated by the omission of the 'ya' and its affirmation; so do not say after that: we did not hear it; and if we had heard it, we would have acted upon it; so they rushed to him like a single man; and they killed him; and the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, informed that like the companion of "Ya-Sin"; this one; in this nation; is 'Urwah ibn Mas'ud al-Thaqafi; when he presented Islam to his people; and he called out to his lineage with the call to prayer; so they shot him with arrows; and they killed him.
