Commentary
And when the context is that the matter is in the hands of Allah; there is no guide for whom He has led astray; nor is there one to mislead whom He has guided; for He guides the distant in location and lineage, if He wills; and He leads astray the close in both, if He wills. And the distance of the home is generally associated with the distance of the lineage; He presented the place of coming before its doer; clarifying that the supplication benefited the farthest; and did not benefit the nearest; so He said: 'And a man came from the farthest part'; meaning: the most distant - unlike what has been mentioned in the Surah of 'Al-Qasas'; and for this purpose, He shifted from expressing 'the town'; as previously mentioned; and said: 'the city'; because it is more indicative of the greatness, which necessitates the distance of the outskirts; and the gathering of the mixed people. And when He clarified the doer by saying: 'a man'; He clarified his concern; with the prohibition of the wrong; and his hastening to remove it; as is required; by His saying: 'he strives'; meaning: he hastens in his walking; above walking; and below running; eager for the advice of his people.
And when the soul yearned for the caller to come to him; it was clarified by His saying: 'he said' (p-110) and he sought their affection with His saying: 'O my people'; and he commanded them to struggle against their souls; by His saying: 'follow the messengers'; meaning: in the worship of Allah alone; and all that they command you with.
