Commentary
And when he clarified the second principle; which is the message; and followed it with its fruit sealed with the glad tidings; and the third principle in faith - which is resurrection - is a great cause for the elevation to the belief in oneness; which is the first principle; and most of those who feared from it - glorified and exalted is He - were constrained in their worldly lives; their lives were troubled; he explained this glad tidings; as a notification that this reward in this abode is with the hidden garments; the splendid; of knowledge; and tranquility; and blessings; and reassurance; and after resurrection with the apparent garments; the radiant; caused by the hidden worldly garments; from those who are not their people; as a glad tidings for them; and a warning for the group that preceded them; by His saying - prefacing the resurrection; for what has been mentioned of its benefit; directing the saying to the manifestation of greatness; signaling the greatness of these objectives; and that He does not protect for these pure ones; despite their fewness; and their distinction from the earlier ones; despite their multitude; except for whom has the splendid greatness -: "Indeed, We"; meaning: by what we have of greatness; which is unmatched; "give life"; meaning: according to the gradual process now; and collectively at the hour; "the dead"; meaning: all of them; in terms of the resurrection; and in meaning of salvation; if we wish; from the darkness of ignorance; "and We write"; meaning: from the righteous; and others; something gradually after that; so the detail does not exceed anything in that generality; "what they have forwarded"; of all their actions; and their states; and their sayings; collectively; at the blowing of the spirit; "and their traces"; meaning: their traditions which remain after them; whether they were righteous or not righteous; and We will reward each one according to what he deserves in the Hereafter; where the reward therein does not cease; so there is no one more generous than Him if He is generous. And when that might have suggested the limitation to writing what he mentioned of the states of humans; or the need for writing; it indicated His ability to what no one else's ability can reach; in the least of what has been mentioned; so how about what is above it?! So he said - attributing; connecting an action to an action; which is "We write" -: "And everything"; meaning: from the affairs of the living; and others; "We have enumerated it"; meaning: before its existence; with our ancient knowledge; enumeration; and we have written it; "in a clear record"; meaning: in a book; which is worthy of being referred to; "that is clear"; meaning: nothing of all the states is hidden from anyone who wants to know it from it; for Allah has this splendid ability; and the evident greatness; and the overpowering might; so the verse from the interweaving: the act of enumeration indicates its source; and the mention of the record in the act of writing.
And when the speech reached here; and the purpose of the surah was, as has passed, to establish the message; to warn of the Day of Gathering; and the warning was the ultimate goal; and the goals are the objectives themselves; and the ultimate goal of the warning was to follow the reminder; so that was the ultimate of the ultimate; the speech was more appropriate to the followers to be presented first; although it is necessary from the speech about them to also speak about their opposites; and they are the ones who turn away; those upon whom the saying has been established; and the speech about the day that is warned of; for this reason, he struck the comprehensive example for all of that; and he moved to (p-103) that he depicted the resurrection in a way that has not been previously presented; then he added the verse of obliteration; and what follows it to the category of those who turn away; then he returned to the speech about the Messenger and the Book.
