And when it was made clear what was the reason preventing them from sight; it was known that the reason preventing them from hearing is similar; because the informant is mighty; so when he does something, it is in a way that there is no way to circumvent it; and when he informed that most of them have this characteristic; the listener eagerly awaited a sign by which he could know the few who are saved; because he is the intended one specifically; so he said - in response to him -: "Indeed, you only warn"; meaning: a warning that the warned will benefit from; and from it, salvation will be affected; so the meaning is: only he will believe in your warning; "whoever follows the reminder"; meaning: he strives to follow all that reminds of Allah from the Qur'an; and otherwise; and he is reminded by it; and he is honored; "and fears the Most Merciful"; meaning: he fears the general mercy; with a great fear; and the shift of the speech from the manifestation of greatness to the description of the Most Merciful indicates that the people of fear are sufficient in their admonition by the reminder of goodness; "in the unseen"; meaning: because of what is informed about his hidden powers; especially resurrection; which was specified by the utmost clarification due to it being a heart without the request for a revealing sign for the veil; so that the matter becomes about witnessing; there is no unseen in it; rather it is a permissibility of what is permissible from his vengeance; even by cutting off his goodness; for what has been established for him in Surah "Fatir"; from power and choice; and he also fears him with a pure fear; in the state of his absence from those who show off to him from the people; these are the ones to whom the warning will benefit; and they are the pious; who it has been established in "Al-Baqarah"; that the Book is guidance for them; and others have no way to their uprightness; "So let not your soul be consumed in regrets for them" [Fatir: 8] for indeed, upon you is only the warning; indeed, Allah is Knowing of what they do; so whoever knows from him this fear will accept it; and whoever knows from him hardness will turn back on his heels; due to what has prevented him from the veil; and Allah is the Grantor of success.
And when the context indicated that this benefited himself; the listener yearned to know his reward; so he said - specifying the pronoun in accordance with the previous context; in consideration of the wording of "who"; indicating the scarcity of this type of people among them all; in this comprehensive surah; being the heart; for what has been scattered in others -: "So give him good tidings"; meaning: because of his fear of the unseen; "of forgiveness"; meaning: for his sins; even if they are great; and even if he repeatedly committed them; and his repentance from them; for indeed, that does not prevent the description of fear; and when knowledge of the erasure of sins was obtained; its essence; and its effect; he said: "and a noble reward"; meaning: a lasting; great; delightful; sweet; continuous reward; there is no bitterness in it whatsoever.
