Commentary
And when He, glorified and exalted is He, mentioned their conditions, He clarified their reward and their outcome. He said - beginning anew; answering the one who asked about that -: "Gardens"; meaning: they are caused by the cause of precedence, which is grace. It is correct for them to be a substitute for "grace"; because it is their cause. So it was as if it is the reward. "Eden"; meaning: a dwelling without departure; because there is no cause for departing from it. "They will enter it"; meaning: the three categories; and whoever enters it will not exit from it; because there is nothing that will expel him; nor does he want to exit; noting that the pronoun refers to "those"; and whoever said to "Our servants"; specified the entry for the moderate and the preceding. This is according to the reading of the majority, with the opening of the 'ya' and the damm of the 'kha'; and according to the reading of Abu Amr, with the passive form; the pronoun will refer only to the preceding; because they will be at the time of reckoning on the mounds of musk; and the pulpits of light; so they will enjoy their place. When they are called to paradise, they will delay; so they will be driven to it; as mentioned at the end of "The Troops".
And when the one entering a place first looks at what it contains of precious things, He said: "They will be adorned in it"; meaning: they will wear; in a manner of beautification and adornment. "With bracelets"; and when it is for the sake of ambiguity; then the clarification adds more awe to the soul; and the purpose of the surah is to affirm the complete power; to affirm the most complete of the two abidings. He encouraged to the obedience that leads to Him with the best of what we know of adornment; so He said - clarifying the type of bracelets -: "Of gold and pearls"; and when they are only suitable for fine clothing; He said - indicating that when they enter they will be wearing -: "And their clothing in it is silk."
