Commentary
And when the interpretation of the verse is that the scholars are the bearers of the Book; and He began - glorified is He - with the lowest of their ranks; and this was something that encourages towards the Book; He followed it with a higher encouragement; so He said - adding to His words - in establishing the second origin; which is the message -: ﴿Indeed, We have sent you with the truth﴾ [Fatir: 24] and He affirmed it to counter the denial of the deniers of it -: ﴿And that which We have revealed﴾; meaning: with what We have of greatness; ﴿to you﴾; and He clarified its status with the manifestation of greatness; and He said - explaining the revelation -: ﴿from the Book﴾; meaning: the one that encompasses the good of both abodes; and when the Book does not encounter any type of change; because it is a description of the One who does not change; He said: ﴿It is the truth﴾; meaning: complete in stability; and matching the reality; not other than it from the words; and He affirmed its truthfulness with His saying: ﴿confirming what is before it﴾; meaning: from the previous Books that the messengers came with; calling to Allah; supported by clear proofs; and decisive evidence.
And when He indicated - glorified is He - that knowledge is the established truth; and whatever is other than it is annihilation; and falsehood; and He indicated that those who recite His Book; which is knowledge; are the scholars; and others than them; even if they exist; they are more like the nonexistent; and He indicated that the previous Books; even if they were true; they are not in the completeness of the Qur'an; because the matter (p-53) as long as it has not been sealed; an increase is expected in it; unlike if the sealing occurred; then there will be no increase anticipated after it; and perhaps it may seem to someone among those characterized by that otherwise; He said (the Exalted) - informing that the lesson is in what is with Him; not in what appears to the servants; and He affirmed it as a warning that this meaning is what the points are established upon; even if it seems to most people otherwise; He revealed the greatest name; for the need of the informants here to it; because they are the righteous; and the wicked -: ﴿Indeed, Allah﴾; meaning: the One who has all the attributes of perfection; and when man is more knowledgeable of whom he raises; especially if he is the owner of him; He said: ﴿with His servants is He All-Aware﴾; meaning: He knows the most precise knowledge; and the most perfected; of their inner states; ﴿All-Seeing﴾; meaning: of the outward matters of them; and their inner states; meaning: He instills fear and knowledge in the hearts; regarding what they have been given from the Book; in His knowledge; and recitation; and even if it seems to them otherwise; you are the most deserving of them in perfection; because you are the one who fears them the most; and is the most pious of them; and for that reason We have given you this Book; so the one who fears them after you is the most deserving of His knowledge.
