And when this was established, the listener became eager to know about the scholars. It was as if it was said: They are those who preserve the Book of Allah, in knowledge and in action. So it was asked: What about them? He said - affirming, in denial of those who think among the disbelievers and others from the sinners that they are among the losers for what they have wasted of their immediate worldly affairs -: "Indeed, those who recite"; meaning: they renew the recitation at all times, continuing in that, preserving it, whenever something is revealed from the Qur'an, and after its complete revelation, so that this becomes their habit and their affair, with understanding and without understanding. "The Book of Allah"; meaning: that which it is not appropriate for a wise person to turn to anything else, due to its attributes of beauty and majesty. And when he mentioned the reason which has no equal, he mentioned the best thing that can be connected to it; so he said - indicating the continuity by expressing it with 'establishing' and on the realization of the action by expressing it in the past -: "And they established the prayer"; meaning: it is the one that prohibits immorality and wrongdoing; so they conversed with Allah in it with His words. And when he mentioned the connection between them and the Creator, he mentioned their kindness to the creatures; so he said - indicating the occurrence of the action by expressing it in the past, and on the continuity in secret and in public, drawing the saying to the manifestation of greatness, alerting that the provision is from Him alone, not by the ability of anyone else -: "And spend from what We have provided them"; meaning: by Our ability and strength, not by anything from their affairs in all that pleases Us. And it indicated their persistence in spending, even if it leads to the depletion of wealth, by His saying: "In secret and in public"; and he expressed in the first with the present tense, because its revelation was before the completion, and explicitly indicating the repetition of recitation as an act of worship and study, for the Qur'an - as the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "...is more elusive than a camel in its tying"; narrated by Muslim from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him. And in the second and third, he used the past tense, urging to hasten to the action. It has been concluded from this that he made for the action of the heart - which is fear - a sign with the tongue, another with the limbs, and a third with wealth.
And when he placed them in the highest place, informing that they are the people of knowledge who fear Allah, and that the servant has no obligation to his master, he said - alerting to the blessing of the second preservation, which is the mother of blessings, and the ultimate result intended in itself -: "They hope"; meaning (in this world and the Hereafter): "for a trade"; meaning: for what they have done; "that will never perish"; meaning: it will not decline or perish; rather it remains, because it has been entrusted to one who does not let the trusts go to waste, and it is a profitable trade due to His complete ability, encompassing knowledge, and He has absolute wealth.
