Commentary
And when their attachments became invalid, and their connections were severed, the result of that was their reprimand arising from it, which is their being organized by His saying with the tongue of greatness: "So today" meaning the day of their being addressed with this rebuke, which is the Day of Gathering. "No one possesses" [meaning] anything of ownership, "some of you to others" meaning among the close ones and the distant ones. And when the focus was on salvation and the context was for intercession, He prioritized benefit and said: "benefit" and completed the matter with His saying: "and no harm" confirming the cutting off of all the causes that existed in the abode of obligation from the abode of recompense, which is intended for the complete manifestation of Allah's greatness alone in the most complete ways.
And when the meaning was: So today we will strip the creatures of what we had enabled them in the world of mutual benefit and harm. With that, everything else faded away. He affirmed for His sacred self what is appropriate, so He said, adding to what I have decreed: "And We say" meaning in that situation without delay or neglect, "to those who wronged" meaning by placing worship in other than its place, especially those who added to that the denial of resurrection when we admit them to the Fire: "Taste the punishment of the Fire." And since there was no prior description for the punishment with repetition - as had been mentioned in As-Sajda - or otherwise, what was added [to it] was more deserving of description because it is directed at with denial. So He said: "which you used to deny" meaning inherently and by nature.
