And when He, glorified and exalted is He, established for Himself and His most sacred essence from the dominion in the heavens and the earth and beyond what you have seen, and He inferred it from the evidences that cannot be pointed to with a criticism of what you have heard, the greatest intended purpose was the Oneness, for it is a foundation upon which all good is built. He said: ﴿Say﴾, meaning [O] the most knowledgeable of creation! By establishing the evidences for those who associated partners with Allah, there is no doubt about the insignificance of that which has the slightest grasp: ﴿Call upon those whom you claim﴾, meaning that they are gods as you call upon Allah, especially in times of distress. He omitted the two objects of
