7And (recall) when We took from the prophets their covenant, and from you and from NūH and Ibrāhīm and Mūsā and ‘Īsā, the son of Maryam, and We did take from them a firm covenant,

And when the breaking of habits and changing of familiarities is something that burdens many souls, and separates those who gather, and cuts off those who are in contact, and distances those who are close, he reminded him ﷺ of what was taken from those who accepted him regarding the abrogation of their religions by his religion, and the changing of their familiarities by his familiarity. He also reminded him of the advice of his people to convey to them all that they were sent with. He directed the words to the manifestation of greatness, as it is more conducive to accepting commands: 'And when' it is known that the meaning is: - mention that - meaning what we have written for you before this in your book, and mention when 'We took' by Our greatness 'from the Prophets their covenant' in conveying the message in ease and hardship, and in the mutual support of some of them for others, and in your following what We informed you of in Our saying 'When I gave you from the Book and Wisdom, then a Messenger came to you confirming what is with you, you must surely believe in him and you must surely support him' [Al-Imran: 81] and their saying: We have acknowledged.
