Commentary
And when He commanded him, glorified and exalted is He, with what pleases him, He forbade him from what harms him. He said, reminding him of the consequence of warning: "And do not obey the disbelievers," meaning the opposers, "and the hypocrites." That is, do not neglect conveying anything [of what has been revealed to you from the revelation, and other than it, out of dislike for anything] from their words or actions regarding the matter of Zaynab or others. For indeed, you are a warner to them. And He added to what was in the beginning of the Surah the point of benefit in His saying, explicitly stating what was necessitated by what preceded: "And leave," meaning remain in a good state with you and a beautiful matter for you, "their harm." So do not regard it in anything, nor consider it at all, and be patient with it, for it will not harm you, because Allah will defend you, for you are a caller by His permission.
And when leaving the harmful one and turning away from him is submission in the utmost difficulty, He reminded him of the remedy and said: "And put your trust in Allah," meaning the Most High King in granting you victory over them [and] conveying all that He commands you with and in all your affairs, for indeed Allah will complete your light and manifest your religion, and being content with Him is enough from the fruits of His illumination for you by making you a lamp. And when the guardian may not be able to handle all matters, He said, informing that His sufficiency encompasses: "And sufficient is He." And He emphasized the matter of sufficiency by establishing the 'ba' in the doer (p-375) to affirm that He is indeed the doer, as was mentioned in the end of Surah Ar-Ra'd, when He said: "With Allah," meaning the One who has complete encompassing, and He distinguished the relation with the doer in the original for the sake of increasing the emphasis in affirming the meaning of the doer, saying: "A guardian." So whoever is content with Him, He will illuminate for him all his affairs.
