Commentary
And when he advised the believers in it ﷺ with what they received with their ears and hearts towards him, and concluded with what would necessitate for them success with what is with Him, glorified and exalted is He, and most of that was for him ﷺ since he is the head of the believers, he addressed the speech to him and directed it towards him, saying, highlighting his mention and praising his status with what is encompassed in his saying: "Those who convey the messages of Allah" [Al-Ahzab: 39] and what it entails of reproach: "O Prophet" [that is] the one whose informant is what no one else can know.
And when the disbelievers - both the openly defiant among them and the secretly opposing - denied the message and what followed it, he affirmed his words regarding it and magnified it, saying: "Indeed, We have sent you" that is, with Our greatness with what We inform you of to all of Our creation, "as a witness" that is, over them and for them a complete testimony, for no one knows the inner matters except Allah, and you are accepted as a witness, so convey to them all of the message whether it pleases them or displeases you.
And when the intention was to inform about the firmness of his standing in each of these attributes, he connected them with 'and' and said: "and a bringer of good tidings" that is, for those you witness for with good in what pleases them, and he indicated to the emphasis in the good tidings by the intensification of what it has of a good effect in the acceptance of the invitee [and the intensification indicates the abundance of the action and the acted upon as a good tidings of the abundance of followers, which is the reason for the intended purpose of the surah], and the emphasis in the warning was even more since it is more effective in repelling the opponent and it is the intended purpose of the message due to the difficulty of confronting it, so he said: "and a warner" [that is] for those whom you witness against [with evil] in what displeases them.
