And when it became evident from this truthful saying that there is no escape from their punishment, he said in response to their softening at that time, denying what their words might imply, that he is in need of worship: "So taste," meaning: what you used to deny of it because of what has been established with me from the saying, "because of what you forgot the meeting of your day." [And he confirmed it] and clarified to them with his saying: "This," meaning: what you have done - in turning away from being prepared for this situation in which you will be held accountable and in which justice will be manifested - is the action of one who forgets it, even though it is ingrained in your nature that it is not permissible for one who has knowledge and wisdom to allow His servants to frolic in His land and to enjoy His provision, then not hold them accountable for that and not give justice to the oppressed among them. Thus, turning away from Him is rightly called forgetting from this aspect as well as from the perspective that when it became evident to him from the proofs, which filled the universes, it was as if it appeared, and it was narrated, then forgotten. Then he explained their tasting of that or resumed to clarify the recompense for it, emphasizing in the manifestation of greatness, cutting off their hopes for salvation. Therefore, he returned to the manifestation of greatness and said: "Indeed, We have forgotten you," meaning: We treated you with what We have of greatness and you have of insignificance, the treatment of one who forgets you. So We brought forth the Fire as We swore that there is no one except that they will enter it. Then We brought out the people of Our love and left you in it, as one who is forgotten.

And when what has preceded regarding their tasting was general, he clarified it with his saying, confirming it: "And taste the punishment of eternity," meaning: the punishment that is characterized by having no end. And when he had specified [the cause] in what has passed, he generalized here and said: "Because of what you were," meaning: by nature and disposition, "doing" of the actions of one who does not fear the matter of resurrection, intending that you will not cease from that.
