Commentary
And when he finished explaining their fragmentation, he mentioned its reason and said: "So that Allah may reward" meaning Allah, glorified is He, who revealed this surah to clarify that He supports His allies for their goodness, as He is with the doers of good. For this reason, he limited here to mentioning them and said: "Those who believed" meaning even if it is in the slightest ways, "and did" meaning as a confirmation of their faith, "righteous deeds." And since the deeds are a blessing from Him, the reward is purely a favor, he said: "from His grace."
And when their enjoyment is one of the greatest punishments of the disbelievers who used to mock them and laugh at them, he clarified it by saying, in a manner of emphasis to the claim of those who think that the world's favor upon the sinners is due to Allah's love for them: "Indeed, He does not love the disbelievers," meaning He does not act with the deep-rooted disbelievers in the manner of one who loves, so He does not equate them with the believers. And it is known from that what He concealed of their recompense. The verse is from the valley of intertwining, which is that two statements are brought, from each of which something is omitted, and their arrangement is such that what is confirmed in each indicates what has been omitted from the other. The estimation here, after mentioning the reward of those who believed, is that He loves the believers and will reward those who disbelieved and did evil deeds with justice because He does not love the disbelievers. Thus, He changed the arrangement to indicate, along with its indication as you see, what has been omitted, that honoring the believers is the intended goal, and it is by the same token the humiliation of the disbelievers. He expressed in the section of the believers with the ultimate, which is the intended meaning of Allah's love because it is more secretive. And in the section of the disbelievers with the beginning, which is a metaphor because it is more harmful and damaging.
