Commentary
And when He, glorified and exalted is He, clarified the beginning with the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the return to Paradise and Hell, and that they denied it, and their denial of it necessitated the belief in many deficiencies, among them are incapacity, breaking the promise, and abandoning wisdom. This was a reason for Him to glorify His sacred self and command the glorification of it, for that repels from the glorifier the harms of the warning and elevates him to the station of the promise. So He said, mentioning from His high actions that which no one else has any hope of being able to do, that indicates the opposite of that which they are required to believe. He shifted the speech from the form of greatness to something greater than it by mentioning the greatest name.
﴿So glorified is Allah﴾ means glorify the One who has all greatness by the means of glorification, by saying this saying which is His knowledge. So He is, (p-60) free from all deficiency; then He mentioned the times of glorification as a reference to what is in them of change which He is free from, and to what is renewed in them of blessings and the existence of states that indicate the ability to create, which indicates resurrection. So He said, indicating the comprehensiveness by removing the diminutive, presenting the erasure, for it is more indicative of the resurrection, which is the original dispute in it, shifting the speech to the address because it is more alerting: ﴿When you enter the evening﴾ means at the first entrance of the night with the departure of the day and the dispersing of light, then weariness befalls you, and lethargy and laziness enter you, in a manner of renewal and continuity. And He emphasized the invitation to glorification by repeating the addition, so He said: ﴿And when you enter the morning﴾ by transforming the matter so that you rise alive after you were dead, and you find a day that has brightened after a night that was dark. [So you will do that which He, glorified and exalted is He, is free from, of movement and striving to bring about benefit and repel harm. And the context indicates that the estimation is: And to Him belongs all praise in these two categories.]
